What a great day on the water on November 5, even though the wind didn't amount to much and the tide was ebbing.
On the shore, we even managed to block out the noise coming from excavation works in the car park.
We welcomed new volunteers Craig Allen and Martyn Lloyd and it was lovely to see Jane Elek (thanks for the delicious strawberries).
Christine arrived with a lot of goodies and we wish her a speedy recovery - thanks for taking Angus for walkies.
With Terry in charge of the beach, safety boat crews Tish and Martyn on Jay Bee and George and Peter W on Squirt safely towed skipper Peter Glen and Edie on Poppy, Michael and Jane on Slime, and John P and Craig on The Doctor, upstream against the ebbing tide in barely a breath of wind.
It was flat out from then on - the LWB bus was closely followed by the Bay High students and teachers.
Michael, who also took out Ben, Natalie and William, and then Martyn, topped the day with five sails - and he also topped the 2.4 class at the ACT Dinghy Championships over the weekend - great stuff!
Peter Ward enjoyed his sail with John P, and Skye went out on Poppy with Peter G.
After lunch, Craig and Rowen joined Tish on Jay Bee, and Dallas, William and Les had a raucous sail on the river - and last out were Jane on Poppy and Martyn on Slime.
It was good to see Dana, who called in to help with packing up.
A big thank you to the carers and teachers - Corina, Keziah, Guy, Drew, Linda and Bec - and to all our volunteers.
We look forward to seeing everyone at sailing day on November 12.
