What a mighty effort from Sailability volunteers on Monday, March 11, the day of the first visit from five Moruya High School students and their teachers. A big welcome to them!
Many thanks go to Andy, Peter G, Michael L, Martyn, Terry, Ruby Rose, and Jocelyn, and to Kirralee, who helped set up for an hour while "on loan" from the Commonwealth Bank's team of volunteers.
The ACT public holiday put some early pressure on the boat ramp but our skippers were out sailing by 10.15. Slime skipper Michael had his first sail with James, and then took out Moruya students Braydon and Ethan, and then Ben, all before lunch.
On Poppy, Jocelyn took out Russell for his ever sail, and he enjoyed it so we hope to see Russell again.
Then Justin, Bella and Kyle, from Moruya High, all had their first sails, and showed great promise on the helm.
Post-lunch, Martyn and Edie had a great sail, as did Peter G and Ray.
On board Squirt, Peter G and Martyn did the morning shift, and Jocelyn, Michael and Ruby Rose the afternoon stint. Congrats to Ruby Rose, who took the helm under tuition from Michael, our training officer.
Meanwhile, back on shore, Ray and Jodie were fishing, with great results, though Jodie's eel was soon sent back to where it belonged.
To all the carers and teachers, our thanks for all your care and your help.
Hope to see you all on Sunday, March 24.
