Nelligen proves to be a winner

Sailability's first official sailing day at Nelligen on January 20 was a big success and a lot of fun.
And all thanks go to everyone who turned up and worked so hard.
Trailers were towed by Terry, John, Tish and Michael and we had three 303s and Jay Bee in the water in good time.
Our first sailor was Heidi Jay, whom we hadn't seen for a while. Then Oscar arrived with Guy and Yvonne, Edie with Sue, and Lachlan with Elizabeth.
Also sailing were Dionne and Renee, visiting from Melbourne.
Our skippers John, Kate, Michael, and Joss did well on an outgoing tide and in erratic winds.
Taking care of business in the shade were Terry and George, and Peter G called in briefly.
We welcomed back Tony from Wagga Wagga, who went out with Terry, and Joss went out with Paul, who sailed his first solo later in the afternoon, so congrats to him.
One advantage of sailing at Nelligen is that once a boat's centreboard is down, it stays down, unless a sailor is embarking/disembarking on shore. It was great to see Edie being wheeled up the ramp aboard Peter's Pride - very majestic, indeed.
Overseeing our safety on Jay Bee were Michael and Dana, then Tish and Dana, and on the late shift were Michael, Tara and Elise. Congrats also to Elise, who has been accepted for medicine.
In the meantime, Sue's grandkids and Rhian made the most of swimming in the river.
Well done to Sailability volunteers for coping so well with a very busy boat ramp. Hopefully, when we return on February 4 the holiday madness will be over, though whether or not the closure of Old Punt Road will put pressure on Nelligen remains to be seen.
We are not sailing over the Australia Day weekend and will return on Monday, February 4.
Thanks again and look forward to seeing you then.
