Our sailors and volunteers were drawn back to shore for lunch on December 17 by the scintillating aromas wafting upstream from the Batemans Bay Lions van.
Once again, huge thanks to Lions Jacki and Allan for serving up our traditional Christmas party lunch, which was followed by Anna's delicious cakes and Terry's stunning pavlova.
We began the day, the last sailing day of the year, with Scott in charge of the beach, Terry, Tish and Peter G taking turns in the office, George and Peter W on Squirt, Allan and Ben on Poppy, and Christine and Ray aboard Slime. We were delighted to see Ray back on the water, and Slime proved its worth today.
Our skippers took advantage of the incoming tide and decent nor'easter to give the sailors a great outing on the water - as good as it gets.
When John P and Edie returned on Poppy, it was high time for lunch.
As is also traditional, we shared this lunch with all the lovely people from Life Without Barriers, and today we were joined by carers Trish, Gavin and James, and, of course, Jodie, who was resplendent in her festive wear.
Trish extended an invitation to Sailability to attend LWB's barbecue lunch at Nelligen on January 14, the date of our "familiarisation day" at our new sailing site.
In the afternoon, George and John P manned Squirt while Peter G and Peter W took out Poppy, and Martyn put on a great solo display on Slime.
It was a very relaxing sailing day and many thanks to you all.
Please note that sailing will resume in 2019 at Nelligen, on the foreshore next to the boat ramp.
On January 14, all volunteers are encouraged to attend a "familiarisation" day at Nelligen from noon.
The first sailing day will be held on January 21.
Many thanks to all our volunteers for their fantastic efforts this year and to everyone we wish you all the best for the festive season.
