What a great finish to the summer sailing season on April 15.
We had a terrific turnout of volunteers and sailors, among them new faces, and faces not seen for a while, so there was some catching up to do.
For some reason, winds avoid Nelligen until well after lunch, so the afternoon sailors caught the best breezes.
After our volunteers Andy, Peter G, Michael L, Tish, Martyn, Terry, Tony, John P, Allan, George, Dana (welcome back), Peter W, Michael B and newbie Geoff (a big welcome), had readied the fleet - Squirt, Poppy, Slime and, thanks to Tish, Pumpkin - the skippers took out Andy and Brad, Charlotte and Jackson, Wayne, Geoff, and Edie before lunch.
Allan had already spoiled us at morning tea with blueberry cake, and Tish then treated us to gourmet sandwiches and chocolate slice for lunch, and then the chocolate Easter eggs appeared! We forced ourselves back onto the water. Peter W, Ray, and Tony were spotted speeding across the water, then a couple of solo sailors just having fun.
Jodie didn't catch any fish, but the one that got away will be even bigger next summer.
To all our volunteers, thank you for everything you have done over the past season.
To all our sailors and carers, thank you for joining us and making our sailing days so utterly enjoyable.
We will keep in touch over winter - there will be fundraisers, hopefully a social gathering or two, and maybe the odd sailing day at sunny Nelligen during winter.
And don't forget to look at our website: it will be up to date with all our activities.
To everyone taking part in Batemans Bay Sailing Club's Anzac Regatta off Corrigan's Beach 27 & 28 April, good luck !
