Thanks heaps to Kylie from Narooma High who supplied these great shots. I had to put Lochie photobombing in first. We had very light winds in the morning, but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the 5 Narooma students - (Lochie, LB, Patrick, Tom and Sonny) - they all suited up and jumped into boats and got out there today. First out today (of course!) was Lochie who is always so keen. He jumped in Poppy with Allan and they went out for a sail.
Tony took LB out in Poppy and then Tom. Later on he took Edie out and she had a lovely time trailing her hand in the water, even though there wasn't a great deal of wind.
Bob took Ben out in Finesse today, and they had a great sail.
Meanwhile Allan took Peter Ward out for a sail. Everything is so much easier now we have our C-Crane working, and Life Without Barriers crew today helped out with a second sling. Because we've only had the C-Crane for a couple of weeks, we're all still learning the tricks of operating it in our specific environment. Many thanks to the LWB carers who are old hands with this equipment and help us out immensely.
We were really pleased to see Andy back today, after he had a bad run through the fires. He was very grateful to Martyn who has been helping him try to get his property sorted out after the devastation. Andy crewed our support boat Jay-Bee today with Peter Glen at the helm, and one of the Narooma students, Patrick, was very happy to go along for the ride and help out too.
During lunch, Sonny amazed us with his bird calls (he's an expert). Some black cockatoos flew over and he imitated their call perfectly!
After lunch and departure of our regular sailors, Tish took out Jay-Bee and Michael and Bob had a good solo sail, as the breeze had picked up a bit. A big tide made landing back at the pontoon a bit tricky, but we all managed, and packed up about 3 or so.
Thanks to our wonderful carers from LWB, Gemma, Janine and Lucy, who brought Jodie, (The Escapade ferry toots its horn just for her) Ben, Peter Ward and Edie down, and Ray came down too today, but didn't want to sail as it was gym day.
Huge thanks to all our volunteers today - Tish, Andy, Peter G, Tony, Michael L, Terry, Allan, Bob and Dana.
See you all at our next sailing day: Monday 16th March! - TM (Sec)
