The sailing day on October 22 was about as good as it could be. Temp about 24, and a nor'-easter good enough to beat the outgoing tide - not once was Squirt called upon to tow.
Our first sailor to arrive, James Smith, gave volunteers Peter Glen, Terry McDonough, Bob Dickman, John Parker, Allan Rees, Jocelyn Righton and George Sawers, a hand to rig the boats. We welcomed Jane Elek, who has nautical provenance with Batemans Bay Sailing Club.
Many thanks to all of them, and also to Scott Berick, who arrived after work to give us a wonderful helping hand to pack up at day's end.
Once again Terry did a great job running the "office" and beach duties.
Allan was a busy skipper on The Doctor - he took out Ben Croft and Peter Ward from LWB, Bay High students Les and Charlize, and then went for a sail with Peter G.
John P was at the helm of Slime and took out Edie Novak from LWB and Tracey from Ulladulla before a stint onSquirt.
On board Poppy with Jocelyn, James steered a near-faultless course up the river and back - he is ready and keen to take a solo run!
After James, Jocelyn took out Dallas and Skye from Bay High, and then Jane, who did a great job of mastering the helm on her debut 303 sail in a gusty breeze.
George and Peter took the first shift on Squirt, followed by John P and George.
And thanks to Jodie Hanson, who always comes along with LWB.
Our next sailing day is this Sunday, October 28.
Look forward to seeing you.
