Shorter and cooler days are all signs of the approaching end of summer sailing, so make the most of the last three sailing days of the season on April 1, 8 and 15.
Early showers on March 24 cleared while the volunteers took a coffee break to decide whether or not to sail, and we're glad we made the right decision.
We rigged just Poppy and Slime and launched Jay Bee in anticipation of a quiet day on the river.
First to arrive were Yvonne, Guy and Oscar Geeves, whose help throughout the day was tremendous, even though Guy and Yvonne had a few "injuries".
With Michael L and Martyn on Jay Bee, Tish went for her first sail, one-handed, since shoulder surgery, while Jocelyn with Oscar on the helm floated around on Poppy (the wind was quite light). Oscar then made a successful ship-to-ship transfer to Jay Bee and a run up the river.
Martyn was busy in Jay Bee with his Go-Pro, so keep an eye on our website, Facebook and Youtube for some great action footage.
It was great to see the Toyer family - Tara, Kate, Rhian and James - who also gave us a very welcome helping hand.
Kate and Tara on Slime, and Martyn on Poppy had a good hour's sail. Unfortunately, the wind was still a bit too light for Martyn to practise his racing starts for the Anzac Regatta.
The long-range forecast for sailing on April 1 is good, so here's hoping we will be out on the water on Monday.
